Watchet on the surface is a charming coastal town with a Harbour and Marina, steam train heritage railway, quaint houses, shops, pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants on lovely narrow streets in sleepy and relaxed West Somerset.
But once you scratch the surface, you will find—Vikings, 200 million year old fossils, Romantic Poets, legends of pirates, a Saxon Royal Mint, sea shanties and Isambard Kingdom Brunel—there's so much more to Watchet than meets the eye. Take your time and you'll find Watchet's hidden treasures.
Best Before End created the brand "Watchet - Scratch The Surface", to reflect the contemporary & vibrant vibe that is the harbour town Watchet. If you just scratch the surface of the town you will find yourself spending the day fossil hunting on the wild Jurassic coastline, riding a steam train along the coast, watching the boats in the marina, listening to fiddle players in the local pubs, relaxing in the cafes, visiting museums, eating fish and chips on the harbour wall, wandering along the ancient Mineral Line, cloud-gazing in the pavilion at Splash Point or just sitting and enjoying the stunning views.
We produced the brand identity to reflect the towns core values of Geology & Coast, Family Fun, Art & Culture, and Heritage. The identity spread across brochures, flyers, posters, advertising, fingerpost signage throughout the town, Visitor Centre livery and the new official Watchet Tourism, fully responsive, website compatible for Desktop, Tablet and Mobile.
